MCP server for agent-ready directories.

Row.so ships a native MCP server so AI agents can operate your directories through protocol tools, not brittle scrapers. Use remote Streamable HTTP at https://row.so/mcp or the local @rowso/mcp stdio package — both authenticate with workspace API keys (rws_live_) and honor the same scopes as /api/v1, including pages, blog posts, and blog categories.

Step 1 — API key

On Growth or Scale, open Dashboard → Settings → API, create a scoped key, and copy rws_live_… (shown once). Use Show docs for live Cursor mcp.json snippets.

  • Required header/env value: Bearer rws_live_… / ROWSO_API_KEY
  • Scopes mirror /api/v1 (directories, items, pages, blog, …)

Step 2a — Local stdio (@rowso/mcp)

In Cursor or Claude Desktop mcpServers config: command npx, args ["-y", "@rowso/mcp"], env.ROWSO_API_KEY = your key. Optional env.ROWSO_API_BASE (default https://row.so). Same tools as remote.

  • npx -y @rowso/mcp
  • ROWSO_API_KEY required (alias ROW_SO_API_KEY)
  • ROWSO_API_BASE optional (alias ROW_SO_API_BASE)
  • Global binary: rowso-mcp after npm i -g @rowso/mcp

Step 2b — Remote Streamable HTTP (no package)

Point the client at url https://row.so/mcp with headers.Authorization = Bearer rws_live_…. No Node install. Clients that only support stdio should use the package path instead.

  • URL: https://row.so/mcp
  • Auth: Authorization: Bearer rws_live_…
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP, stateless

Tools for listings, pages, blog posts & categories

Agents can list and mutate directories, items, listing categories, custom pages, blog posts, and blog categories — with pages:write and blog:write scopes when you grant them.

  • create_page / update_page / list_pages
  • create_blog_post / update_blog_post / list_blog_posts
  • create_blog_category / update_blog_category / list_blog_categories
  • create_item / list_directories / get_workspace

Webhooks alongside agents

When agents create or publish pages, posts, and blog categories, workspace webhooks fire page.*, blog_post.*, and blog_category.* events so the rest of your stack stays in sync.

Common questions

Create a workspace API key under Dashboard → Settings → API with the scopes you need, then pass Authorization: Bearer rws_live_… to https://row.so/mcp or set ROWSO_API_KEY for @rowso/mcp.

Use remote https://row.so/mcp when the client supports Streamable HTTP URL + headers. Use npx @rowso/mcp (stdio) for Cursor/Claude Desktop command-based configs.

Any MCP-compatible client — Cursor, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT custom connectors, and similar tools that support Streamable HTTP or stdio MCP servers.

MCP exposes the same workspace capabilities as /api/v1 through tools agents can call. REST remains available for scripts and traditional integrations.

MCP server is included on Growth and Scale only (alongside Webhooks & API). Launch and AppSumo tiers do not include it. Create scoped keys under Settings → API on an eligible plan.
